  3. As adorable as Mehkai is, I really don't need to see more of the family members and stuff that is unrelated to the case.

When I read the thing about JJ being upset about Henry not wanting to celebrate Halloween I rolled my eyes. Really?

Stop the presses! Forget the serial killers who are raping and maiming. OMG! Henry isn't enthused about Halloween! *sigh*

What next? Garcia worried that Sergio has fleas? Morgan worried that Clooney doesn't want peanutbutter anymore? Kevin worried about a possible bacon shortage? Hotch upset that Jack is tired of oatmeal? Rossi is upset that nobody gave him binders full of women?

Maybe it will just be a small scene, and if it is, I don't think it justifies making an appearance in a synopsis.

Besides, I bet Reid will come in and explain just how awesome Halloween is and get Henry enthused and then Henry will dress up as Reid for Halloween and Reid will dress up as JJ... What? Ok. Ignore that second part.

  4. zannej,

I respect your opinion but not everyone watch JUST for the case of the week, some watch also for the team interaction and what is going on in their personal life. I do like to see Henri once in a while, get to see Hotch everyday life outside the BAU, Reid dressing up for a Doctor Who convention, watch Rossi give the team cooking lessons, Garcia talking about Sergio and hopefully one day we will see Morgan's dog Clooney too. All this makes for much more interesting characters, it does flesh them out. Nothing wrong with that.

EVERY show, be it Homeland, Walking Dead, CSI, Breaking bad etc...have those type of scenes, why can CM have those? Yes, most likely that scene will be a cute, few seconds maybe a minute scene. Why not show JJ as something more than just a badass FBI profiler?

As for why this part is in the press release, those are always in the press release, last year the one about Jack having trouble in school was in it. I guess if CBS does add those to the press release it is because this is of some interest to some people. I know it does interest me and I look forward to seeing little Henri again.

  5. Well I for one like when they lighten the mood once in a while, I don't think it needs to be just about the gore. That's not necessarily good television, in my opinion. Showing glimpses into the characters personal lives gives them complexity, these people are not defined entirely by their jobs. The show is about the team of profilers first and the unsubs second.

Also, I view these small story lines as written to give a note of realism to the show.Yes, horrible things happen all the time all around us, yet they do not dominate our lives.Trivial things such as Halloween, birthdays, school, marital issues, friendships still exist and while the show's main idea is "catching the bad guys by getting into their heads" I feel that a show that featured nothing but horrific scenes, no light moments, nothing but crimes, would be a depressing show no one would watch.

These small stories were always there: Spencer's birthday, Hotch introducing his newborn son, Hotch and Haley deciding on names, Gideon cooking for a date, Morgan being a charmer etc. This isn't new, it's just slightly more personal. It would be a repetitive(how many new ways to kill are you going to find?) show, in the end.
